The Problem
Our children are dying senselessly literally and mentally. Their cries are going unheard by the justice system and the community and they need a voice. They need a voice to educate them. They need a voice to express themselves. They need a voice that will inspire them to take a new direction. Children are waking up one morning in their beds and the next morning walking streets on concrete selling their bodies to predators feeling like there is no escape from their hopeless worlds. When opportunities for rescue should be occurring they are instead treated like criminals often even more harshly than their predators. In situations where they are offered help there is little done to specifically address their emotional needs for healing and rebuilding. If they are provided an environment for healing they can progress into healthy citizens of our society. There can never be enough done to raise awareness and fortify our youth to prevent them from ending up in the sexually exploitive lifestyle of prostitution. The disdain of a nation for this “profession” does not erase the problem. While many teen prostitutes are runaways and drug users, others were perfectly normally developing adolescents that were manipulated and lured into this lifestyle by a pimp. The profitability of prostitution has led more and more gangs and organized crime groups to abandon drugs as their primary income stream and turn to human trafficking the jewels of our future like meaningless worthless vessels on our city streets.

What would you give to see our young girls happy and strong?
We want to give them BLISS.
Project BLISS seeks to address the gap and deficiency in proactive programs addressing this issue by targeting the highest ranked cities for teen prostitution nationwide. Participants are engaged in a dynamic presentation that utilizes guided discussion and role play exercises to challenge false beliefs and maladaptive attitudes that support the sexual exploitation of our youth. Education on topics involving prostitution, abusive relationships, substance abuse, suicide prevention, self-esteem, and positive communication are incorporated throughout the workshop. Participants write poetry in the form of positive affirmations, self-worth statements, emotional and therapeutic expression, and positive future oriented thinking. Cognitive exercises to help promote awareness to the negative thought processes that can generate depression and cause youth to engage in risky behavior are utilized. Mixed media art and tangible items are created throughout the workshop. Participants leave with an artistic package of personalized items in conjunction with community resources. Most importantly Project BLISS will train members of participating organizations in each city how to carry on the project after the Push BLISS team departs.
